CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, A full and generous life has come to an end with the passing of Patricia Warren Innerarity of Midland on June 8, 2005, at the age of 79; and WHEREAS, Born on March 14, 1926, in Gilmer, Mrs. Innerarity graduated with honors from Gilmer High School and Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she received a diploma with outstanding achievements in aviation and became one of the earliest pioneers of women's aviation; she also attended Louisiana State University to study engineering and The University of Texas, where she met veteran and fellow pilot Lloyd Edward Innerarity, whom she married on May 2, 1947; and WHEREAS, Three years later, the couple moved to Midland, where they raised a family and became actively involved with civic affairs; Mrs. Innerarity distinguished herself in many leadership roles, and served as president of the Women of the Church for the First Presbyterian Church, president of the Midland Symphony Guild, and the first woman president of the Midland/Odessa Symphony and Chorale; moreover, she enthusiastically supported numerous arts groups, including the Midland Ballet, the Midland Opera, the Midland Community Theatre, and the Austin Lyric Opera; and WHEREAS, This remarkable woman was also a loyal contributor to the Museum of the Southwest, the Midland Foundation, and the Petroleum Museum; she dedicated many volunteer hours to the American Red Cross, the Junior League of Midland, the Women of the Arts, the Girl Scouts of America, the YMCA and YWCA, and Midland Memorial Hospital, and opened her home for fund-raisers and other civic activities; and WHEREAS, An avid UT fan, Mrs. Innerarity often attended Longhorn athletic events around the country and served on numerous committees that supported and promoted academic excellence at the university; above all, she lived for her family, and she imparted her optimism and good cheer to her children and grandchildren, who enjoyed many special times together in her company; and WHEREAS, Pat Innerarity set an outstanding example of citizenship and service to others throughout her time on this earth, and though her kindness and spirited enthusiasm for life will be dearly missed, she will always be remembered with love and admiration; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Patricia Warren Innerarity and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Lloyd Innerarity; to her daughter, Sue Plaunt and her husband, Jim; to her son, Ed Innerarity and his wife, Paige; to her daughter, Patti MacDonald and her husband, Rod; to her son, Kelly Innerarity; to her grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Laura Paige, and Callie Innerarity, and Curtis, Chad, and Whitney MacDonald; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of Patricia Warren Innerarity.
