A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to making an appropriation to the Texas Department of |
|
|
Transportation for a streetcar line in Dallas. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION: PROPOSED DALLAS STREETCAR LINE. |
|
|
The amount of $35 million is appropriated from the general revenue |
|
|
fund for the fiscal biennium beginning September 1, 2011, to the |
|
|
Texas Department of Transportation to promote economic development |
|
|
through the construction by the City of Dallas of a streetcar line |
|
|
connecting downtown Dallas and Oak Cliff. The department shall |
|
|
monitor the expenditure of the appropriation to ensure that the |
|
|
money is being used for the intended purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect |
|
|
immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members |
|
|
elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas |
|
|
Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for |
|
|
immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
