Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 13, 2011, and being granted permission to meet while the House is in session on May 13, 2011, the House Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs met in a formal meeting, and was called to order by the chair, Representative Pickett, at 1:00 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Pickett; Sheffield; Berman; Flynn; Landtroop; Perry; Scott; and Taylor, Van.

 

A quorum was present.


 

The chair directed that the May 6, 2011 minutes for the House Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs be corrected. The corrected minutes were authorized without objection.

The chair laid out SB 1766.

Representative Flynn moved that SB 1766, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Pickett; Sheffield; Berman; Farias; Flynn; Landtroop; Perry; Scott; Taylor, Van (9).

 

Nays:                           None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

HCR 71

 

The chair laid out HCR 71 as pending business.

 

Representative Berman moved that HCR 71, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
