R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of Texas Crime Stoppers are gathering in |
|
Austin on February 23, 2015, to participate in Crime Stoppers Day at |
|
the State Capitol; and |
|
WHEREAS, In response to a soaring crime rate, the Texas Crime |
|
Stoppers Council was established in 1981 by state law; today, the |
|
council provides resources, training, and certification to local |
|
programs, while also administering grants from the |
|
state-appropriated Crime Stoppers Assistance Fund and engaging the |
|
public to increase awareness and protect communities from crime; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, There are now more than 150 certified community and |
|
campus Crime Stoppers programs in Texas, and their members work |
|
tirelessly to ensure the security of communities and schools; since |
|
1981, more than 1.4 million tips have been received from anonymous |
|
citizens, resulting in the arrests of over 200,000 suspects and the |
|
recovery of more than $1.4 billion in property and narcotics; and |
|
WHEREAS, The members of Texas Crime Stoppers are dedicated to |
|
making the Lone Star State an even safer place, and their work has |
|
benefited countless people; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize February 23, 2015, as Crime Stoppers |
|
Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those participating |
|
sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable event. |
