R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of Texas Crime Stoppers are gathering in
  Austin on February 23, 2015, to participate in Crime Stoppers Day at
  the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, In response to a soaring crime rate, the Texas Crime
  Stoppers Council was established in 1981 by state law; today, the
  council provides resources, training, and certification to local
  programs, while also administering grants from the
  state-appropriated Crime Stoppers Assistance Fund and engaging the
  public to increase awareness and protect communities from crime;
  and
         WHEREAS, There are now more than 150 certified community and
  campus Crime Stoppers programs in Texas, and their members work
  tirelessly to ensure the security of communities and schools; since
  1981, more than 1.4 million tips have been received from anonymous
  citizens, resulting in the arrests of over 200,000 suspects and the
  recovery of more than $1.4 billion in property and narcotics; and
         WHEREAS, The members of Texas Crime Stoppers are dedicated to
  making the Lone Star State an even safer place, and their work has
  benefited countless people; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 23, 2015, as Crime Stoppers
  Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those participating
  sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable event.
