Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Business & Commerce was held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:02 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

Senator Creighton moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearings held on March 24, 2015, and March 26, 2015; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Creighton assumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out SB 802 and recognized the author, Senator Eltife, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Schwertner sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Eltife to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Schwertner moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Creighton moved that CSSB 802 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out SB 788 and recognized the author, Senator Eltife, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Schwertner sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Eltife to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Schwertner moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Creighton sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Taylor, Van, to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Creighton moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out SB 336 and recognized the author, Senator Taylor, Van, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Huffines sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Taylor, Van, to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Huffines moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out SB 337 and recognized the author, Senator Taylor, Van, to explain the bill.

 

The chair opened public testimony on SB 335, SB 336 and SB 337. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bills are shown on the attached list.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Eltife moved that SB 335, SB 336 and SB 337 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair recognized Senator Hinojosa to speak on SB 302.

 

No action was taken on SB 302.

 

The chair laid out SB 900 and recognized the author, Senator Taylor, Larry, to explain the bill.

At 10:47 AM Senator Eltife moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 2:31 PM Senator Eltife reconvened the meeting.

 

Public testimony was resumed for SB 1628.

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Eltife moved that SB 1628 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.
