FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 2, 2017

TO:
Honorable Angie Chen Button, Chair, House Committee on Economic & Small Business Development

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB108 by Alvarado (Relating to the use of the skills development fund to facilitate the relocation to or expansion in this state of employers offering complex or high-skilled employment opportunities.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Education Code relating to the use of the skills development fund to facilitate the relocation to or expansion in this state of employers offering complex or high-skilled employment opportunities. Based on information provided by the Texas Workforce Commission, this analysis assumes the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. This analysis assumes the bill would be implemented within existing resources as the bill provides additional direction for a current statutorily authorized use of skills development funds to incentive employers to establish businesses in Texas by providing workforce training programs.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
