         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 10, 2001, the House Committee  
         on Corrections met in a public hearing and was called to order  
         by the acting chair, Representative Gray at 9:20 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Allen; Ellis, Dan; Gray; Hopson;  
                   Isett; Ritter (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Haggerty; Farrar; Hodge (3). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         Opening remarks made by acting chair, Representative Isett. 
          
         (Representatives Hodge and Haggerty now present.) 
          
         The chair called witnesses to testify with respect to recent  
         attacks on Texas Tech medical staff serving on Texas Department  
         of Corrections units in North Texas.   (See attached witness  
         list) 
          
         At 10:10 a.m., on the motion of the acting chair and without  
         objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the  
         chair.
