Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. The following business was transacted:
Chairman Ogden made introductory remarks regarding the budget oversight agenda before the Committee.
The Committee heard invited and public testimony regarding the Committee's budget oversight interim charge regarding the budgetary impact of the Eldorado case.
The roll was called, and a quorum was established.
Witnesses testifying and registering on the subject are shown on the attached list.
At 12:07 p.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed for 30 minutes; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Ogden reconvened the Committee at 12:47 p.m.
The Committee heard invited and public testimony regarding the Committee's budget oversight interim charge on the following agencies:
Department of State Health Services
Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Centers
Texas Youth Commission
University of Texas Medical Branch
Witnesses testifying and registering on the subject are shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 3:29 p.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
