Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Business & Commerce was held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in the Senate Chamber.

Senator Phil King, the Vice Chair, called the meeting to order at 12:23 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Campbell, Senator Creighton,

Senator Johnson, Senator Kolkhorst.

 

The Vice Chair made opening remarks.

 

 

 

Senator Nichols moved adoption of the committee rules. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

The Vice Chair opened invited testimony (see attached witness list) for discussion on the following subject:

 

Electricity: Discuss proposed changes to the wholesale electric market design and the impact such changes will have on the reliability of the Texas electric grid. Furthermore, the Committee will discuss electricity outages resulting from recent weather events.

 

At 2:42 PM Senator Nichols assumed the chair.

 

At 2:44 PM Senator King resumed the chair.

 

At 5:45 PM Senator Nichols assumed the chair.

 

At 5:49 PM Senator King resumed the chair.

 

There being no further business, at 6:08 PM Senator Kolkhorst moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
