Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Subcommittee on Higher Education was held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

Senator Phil King called the meeting to order at 12:48 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair laid out SB 55 and recognized the author, Senator Zaffirini, to explain the bill.

At 12:51 PM Senator Middleton assumed the chair.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Middleton moved that SB 55 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out SB 567 and recognized the author, Senator Springer, to explain the bill.

Senator King moved that SB 2137 be reported favorably to the Senate Committee on Education with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.
