Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on April 30, 2025, and permission granted on April 30, 2025, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Corrections met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Harless, at 4:17 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Harless; Jones, Venton; Harrison; Lowe; Lozano; Meza; and Schatzline.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

 

HB 2854

 

The chair moved to reconsider the vote by which the measure was reported from committee.  The motion to reconsider prevailed without objection.

 

The chair laid out HB 2854 as pending business.

 

Representative Meza offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Meza moved that HB 2854, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Harless; Jones, Venton; Harrison; Lowe; Lozano; Meza; Schatzline (7).

 

Nays:                           None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        Representatives Allen; Wharton (2).

 

At 4:20 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
