Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 22, 2025, and permission granted on May 22, 2025, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Elections met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Shaheen, at 4:31 p.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Shaheen; Isaac; Morales Shaw; Plesa; Raymond; Swanson; Toth; and Wilson.

A quorum was present.

SB 1494

The chair moved to reconsider the vote by which the measure was reported from committee.  The motion to reconsider prevailed without objection.

The chair laid out SB 1494, companion to HB 3097.

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

The chair moved that SB 1494, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Ayes:                           Representatives Shaheen; Isaac; Morales Shaw; Plesa; Raymond; Swanson; Toth; Wilson (8).

Nays:                           None (0).

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

Absent:                        Representative Bucy (1).

The chair directed that the May 16, 2025 minutes for the House Committee on Elections be corrected. The corrected minutes were authorized without objection.

At 4:34 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
