Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 9, 2025, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Wilson, at 1:17 p.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Wilson; Howard; Davis, Aicha; Lalani; Lambert; Perez, Vincent; Shaheen; Shofner; Tinderholt; VanDeaver; and Ward Johnson.

A quorum was present.

SB 1241

The chair laid out SB 1241, the companion to HB 4701.

Representative Lambert moved that SB 1241, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Ayes:                           Representatives Wilson; Howard; Lalani; Lambert; Perez, Vincent; Shaheen; Shofner; Tinderholt; VanDeaver (9).

Nays:                           Representatives Davis, Aicha; Ward Johnson (2).

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

Absent:                        None (0).

At 1:19 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
