Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 23, 2025, and permission granted on May 23, 2025, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Wilson, at 6:10 p.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Wilson; Howard; Davis, Aicha; Lalani; Lambert; Perez, Vincent; Shaheen; VanDeaver; and Ward Johnson.

A quorum was present.

The committee stood at ease.

The committee came back to order.

SB 2847

The chair laid out SB 2847.

Representative Tinderholt offered a complete committee substitute.

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

Representative Tinderholt moved that SB 2847, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Ayes:                           Representatives Wilson; Lambert; Perez, Vincent; Shaheen; Tinderholt; VanDeaver (6).

Nays:                           Representatives Howard; Davis, Aicha; Lalani; Ward Johnson (4).

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

Absent:                        Representative Shofner (1).

At 6:15 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
